For SET teachers

Planning one week at a time

Your pupils' targets are saved for the whole year. The tick boxes let each weekly plan focus on the targets you're actually working on — without changing your saved list.

Using the Focus this week tick boxes

  1. Enter each pupil's full list of targets once, from their School Support Plan, in your SET setup. One target per line works best.
  2. When you make a weekly or fortnightly support plan, a “Focus this week” section lists every pupil with a tick box beside each target. Everything starts ticked.
  3. Untick the targets you're not working on this week. Use “None” to leave out a pupil you won't see this week, or “All” to tick all of theirs again.
  4. Generate the plan. It covers only the ticked targets and pupils, and doesn't mention anything else from the wider support plan.
  5. Under the plan, “Still to cover” lists the targets and pupils you left out, so you can pick them up next week.
  6. Changed your mind? “Use every target again” puts all the ticks back. Your saved targets are never changed by the tick boxes.

Making a fortnightly plan? The same tick boxes appear, headed “Focus this fortnight”. If you'd rather plan week by week, choose “Plan one week instead of a fortnight” on the form.

Tip for the Cúntas Míosúil

The Cúntas Míosúil always uses every saved target — the weekly tick boxes don't affect it. So the month's record reflects each pupil's full support plan. Before you generate it, fill in the “Personalise this month's Cúntas” boxes to say what actually happened: which targets you worked on, what progress you saw, and any sessions that didn't go ahead. The Cúntas is written from what you enter there, so the more specific you are, the more accurate it is.
